San Francisco Remodeling Contractor For Kitchen Makeovers

Posted on Posted in Bathroom Remodel

I’m starting big with the most complicated, most expensive, most functionally significant portion of the remodel – replacing the shower faucet. As I mentioned in a previous post , the tub/shower handles have been a real pain for some time. They are hard to turn, and it’s difficult to make small adjustments so that the water isn’t too cold or too hot (and that’s when the cold water isn’t turning itself off). I have previously replaced the faucet stems, but it was only a temporary fix because they wore out after a couple of years. The long-term solution is to replace the valve inside the wall. For that, I need a plumber… and that’s why this will be the most expensive portion of the remodel.

Linen cabinets are available in wall mount designs, floor tower designs and floor cabinet designs. The starting point for the selection process should begin with you deciding on the decor style you desire. You can mix up furniture styles to create a uniquely designed decor. You’ll want to envision your bathroom in its completed state to determine what style of storage furniture you want. If you’re the neat and orderly type, a linen cabinet with open shelves could be an ideal choice for you.

The advantages of working with professionals are access to better quality kitchen cabinets, sink, plumbing, and other kitchen essentials. These items appear to cost less from the building contractors than purchasing at individual retail stores. Designers work with these professional contractors therefore offering a unique variety of choices which are not available in public retail stores.

If you are working with someone else on a home improvement project, make sure to have clear lines of communication. It is important that everyone be assigned a role that caters to their strengths. It is also important that all members of the team understand the role they will have in the project. Clear communication will ensure that the project is completed in a timely fashion.

While it may seem like a more affordable option to go with the cheaper end refrigerators, dishwashers and stoves, there is value in buying the same brand of each appliance. In fact, some manufacturers offer discounts on complete kitchen appliance sets. When purchasing appliances of the same brand, there will be no issues with trying to match colors.… Read More

Understand what products you use to clean clogs from your drains. Not all cleaners are made the same, and some are extremely harsh. Steer clear of crystallized cleaners, since they tend to stick to pipes and cause harm. Be sure to select drain cleaners that work well with the type of septic tank you have. If you’re using bathroom shelves, keep them uncluttered, also. This will help give the appearance of space.

Before each step in your renovation, we always make time to clearly communicate the scope of work, deliverables, timeframe, cost, materials and suppliers with you. Most impressed with product. Store Customer Service was excellent although uninformed regarding strict product specs impacting installation. Contract installer did excellent work, but was completely out of sync with process causing added expense & delays.

Seek out advice before starting on do it yourself projects. There may be important steps you will overlook if you don’t know what you are doing. Although many household jobs can be done yourself, it is always a good idea to ask an expert how to do the job properly. Those photos of the basins are designs I hadn’t seen before. Certainly more attractive than the standard sinks in our house. Jackie Lynnley, Thanks, for stopping by. I think people are surprised and aren’t aware that this is available.

Moonlake, I’m so envious that you purchased an old farm house. I’ve always wanted to, just never had the opportunity. I love DIY projects and repurposing furniture. I repurposed an old dresser in to an outdoor storage bench for planting. Such great ideas. The intent of this lens article is to highlight some of these aspects of imported RTA cabinets and then highlight some American made alternatives you may want to consider. We also scrounged for free materials now and then, including the mulch, some of the tile, hardware and even tools. It’s amazing what some folks just want to get rid of. This looks easy enough to manage time wise and pocket book friendly. No doubt it will be helpful to many!… Read More

How To Install A New Showerhead

When remodeling your home, bathroom renovations have the highest rate of return on your home improvement investment important item to consider when remodeling is the bathroom vanity unit. Buying a discount bathroom vanity can be one of the best investments you make towards this.

I will use a ring hook on the wall under the light switches for the towel hook. And I am using robe hooks for my bath sheets (because yes, I’m a spoiled chica who insists on using massively large towels). I am putting one hook on the tile just to the left of my shower door where my towel will go when I’m taking my shower so it’s within easy reach. And I’m putting two more on the back the door to the bathroom where they will hang the remainder of the time – out of the way, and yet easily reached. Thank you, Kristen!

Flooring is a exceptional method to include some nice touches to a small bathroom. You may have the ability to consider a little nicer material given that the space you are dealing with will certainly not require using too much product. If this is the case then you might consider granite flooring because it has actually become so popular over the previous 10 years or so. It can be expensive if doing a kitchen or other remodeling project, however you may be able to manage very reasonable.

Whether you use picture hooks, molly bolts, toggle boths, picture nails, or some other method will depend on the type of wall construction and surface, so be sure you have the right type of fasteners available – and if your home is a rental, you may be restricted to non-invasive methods such as suspending frames from a railing or keeping your artwork lightweight enough to use magnetic or peel-and-stick types of picture hangers.

Remodeling may not be easy for all of us, but we have chosen to buy the listed products for our bathroom renovation to prevent mold and mildew growth. During the demolition of the bathroom at the beginning of our project, we found some mold where the tiles were damaged or water collected along the floor edges over the years. Prevent mold growth for the remainder of the home’s life is important for our project and with the proper installation we feel confident about the extra money spent for these quality items.… Read More

We gutted the entire space except for the tub which was in perfect condition and replaced the boring, square beige tiles with large format tiles of a subtle, threaded pattern. A decorative, highly textured band of stainless steel, stone, and glass runs through the shower and defines the counter of the new dark vanity which is now in scale with the room. New sconces in matte opal glass are twined with ribbons of forged iron. Walls are in a chic hue called Thunder Grey.

Make sure that you make a realistic budget before you start making any improvements to your home and you do your best to stick to the budget. While there are many factors that can make things cost a bit more than expected, you should not be spending thousands of dollars more than you can afford. Whether you choose the halogen light to be from the ceiling, under the cabinet or even at the floor, the halogen light will make a major statement in your kitchen. What a great update!

A very thorough and comprehensive guide for redecorating on a budget. I like these ideas. I am definitely going to use the changing cabinet knobs and drawer pulls tip. Thanks! Change the showerhead. You can buy a rain showerhead, massage showerhead and other models that will give your bathroom a spa look and feel as well as improve your shower experience. Most of the time, you can make the change in five minutes with a wrench. What a fantastic idea! I don’t know how I missed the information in my first reading! Thanks so much!

Personally, I wouldn’t want to be taking down walls and opening up kitchens and bathrooms without a professional. There are such things as load bearing walls, and the removal of them can create structural issues that might see your house on the condemned list. Indeed it is, but we have no choice. Okay, we do, but dueling the spiders in the basement bathroom (door also shut there) is too much for me. All of the above that YOU did scares me except for the buying beautiful towels part and the sign making. Yep. You’re my NEW HERO!!!!

The vanity was pretty awful and just too bulky for the small size of our bathroom. The bathroom isn’t really too small but this big cabinet made it feel small. And the door was forever falling off and being re-attached and falling off again. It drove me all sorts of crazy. Wonderful lens. I wish I had that creativity I see on TV all the time. Some designer gets 1000 dollars and makes the entire house look fabulous. Thanks for the tips to use until then! hen you wish to contribute to the value of your home, upgrading or bathroom remodeling is perfect. When it comes to home enhancement tasks to include value to your home, bathroom remodelings are important. When you add the attractiveness of bathroom tile design to the mix you are on a victorying streak.

One-piece shower units consist of almost every necessary shower component — drain pan , shower walls, glass door, plumbing and fixtures — all in a prepackaged, self-contained unit. These may be good product options if you’re seeking to install a new shower in an area such as a basement, as the one-piece configuration may cut down on time spent preparing the installation site or replumbing existing drain or supply lines. But if the unit begins to leak water or deteriorate overall, you may need to replace the entire system rather than just one component.

The job of installing our wall-mounted fixtures was tougher than it had to be, thanks to poor and contradictory one-size-fits-all instructions, metric fittings and duplicate and missing mounting parts. Prevent hard-to-fix future problems by test-fitting the actual fixtures when roughing in framing, plumbing and blocking to make sure everything will work out. Then finish the walls. When test-fitting, simulate finished floor and wall surfaces to get the clearances right.

A vertical lighting on the side of the mirror projects the best result. Take note, not all fixtures of sidelights are perfect. So it is better to rely on certain basic fixture so that your vanity lighting will be very effective. A suggested fixture of lighting would be 75 to 80 inches above the floor so that would be around more than 6 feet in height. The ideal placing of lights in between must spread over a fixture that’s at least 24 inches long, a 150 watts lighting is ideal on this set up. This is to make sure to wash your face with bright light.

Finding a good and cost efficient contractor is no easy task. Most people recommend interviewing at least three. I recommend you call many more than that. When you tell them your plan at least half of them will decline to bid your job. I would also say that at least half of the remaining contractors will fail to pass your background and reference check. If you call at least 12 contractors you’ll probably find three to five from whom you can get full bids.… Read More

Cup hooks and under shelf wire baskets give me additional storage. My paper towel holder is an under shelf mount. I also have two stemware racks (on the shopping list above) mounted under one of the shelves allowing extra shelf space for more needed dishes. The sink has a direct connect to hose option in addition to the built in tank we’ve never used. Vintage H20? No thanks!

Because we needed to select everything in just one shopping trip (the day we had a babysitter!) to keep things easy, we also ordered the vanity from Home Depot. I did see it for a little less elsewhere though (including on ). Thanks for linking to Time Travel Thursday. I hope you’ll join the fun each week. For those who would like a more comfortable feel under their bare feet, hardwood floors are also a great option. Hardwood is not as durable as stone or ceramic tile, but continues to be a very popular material for kitchen floors. Great ideas and pictures of wainscoting. You have some great information. Wainscoting can make a dramatic effect on a room. Thankfully I don’t have to deal with this for myself on anyone in my family for that matter, but you did a good job, on this hub, Habee! Well done and very helpful!

Quite a few of those in Malta, especially in the craft village, although they’re somewhat more basic. Just a corrugated tin shell with some tables and display units inside. This is an excellent choice when it comes to being environmentally friendly, there are no chemicals needed, which means it’s also safer for your family. Vessel sinks often come prepackaged with their own integrated faucet system or vanity. Great Hub. These are nice before and after kitchen remodels. Refinishing older cabinets could be a lot more time consuming, but can definitely save money in the end. The secret is in the state of the art material used to wrap your tub/shower. I want to have a vintage, slightly industrial feel, while reusing as much as possible. We asked every carpenter that came to our house if it was possible to reuse the tile on our floor currently, and each time we were met with a firm ‘NO’. I feel so spoiled. When adding or renovating bath tub keep comfort in mind. There is nothing wrong with getting in an empty tub and testing it before you buy. Getting in the tub will let you know if there is enough room and also introduce you to its comfort level. Most tubs are 60-inches in length, which is usually suitable for residential bathrooms. With over 30 years of experience, our innovative process will transform your bathtub installed in as little as one day. This is my first visit to your lovely blog and am visitng from Between Naps on the Porch. I am next you (Home is Where the Heart is).

Make sure that you seal cracks in your home to eliminate infestation of bugs. All you need is simple caulk, which is applied around your windows, along baseboards and any other areas that could have small openings to the outside. Once the caulk is dry, there will be no bugs getting in nor well tempered air getting out. I hope this information is useful to all of you who look to hire a contractor to remodel a bathroom. Just make sure to ask questions and do your homework.

If your room doesn’t have a focal point, you can create one as described above or you might want to consider arranging your room with one of the following as your focal point. We’ve personally selected each one and would appreciate your feedback, in the form of voting on items, so we can offer you more styles you are looking for. Once the sink and appliances were in place, and the water to the kitchen turned on, it just left the wall tiles as a splash-back, which took two days, and the final finishing touches. Thanks for the post, and I agree how important good bathroom remodeling is because that’s the one place that everyone is going to use. so you want to make sure that it’s good. And I really liked the end product. One of the major influences over the small bathroom remodel cost you will have to bear is the type of layout you select. If the new layout will require you to do a lot of renovating, then your prices will go up significantly. Renovating includes taking down walls and putting up wall components like dividers.Read More

YAY! I am finally posting about our master bath remodel! I keep waiting, thinking I will finish up those last couple of projects for this room and then take the photos. But I just decided this weekend to take photos anyway! Get ready for an onslaught of photographs!

You put a lot of work into this. I was delighted to read about the different upcycling of furniture in your bathroom. Makes me want to go buy a farmhouse and do it up myself! Your husband will appreciate your ideas in the end, when the house is full of character (and storage space). Voted up & useful! Bathroom remodels can include everything from painting the walls to installing a brand new tub. On average, most homeowners will pay between $8,265 and $11,426 to remodel their existing bathrooms. Small bathrooms under 100 square feet will range from $3,000 to $5,000.

After you have written everything you wish or have created your design with the kitchen software meet with your architect and he or she will work in as many of these desires which are realistic in the design. Shop around for tile. You can find nice floor and wall tile for $1 to $2 per square foot. Use that less expensive tile for most of the work, and then incorporate luxury tile as accents.

Rugs are not supposed to float or fly except in fairy tale air space. Rugs that are too small are not only hazardously easy to trip on, they float in the middle of a floor, break up a room and are distracting. Before you decide on a size for a rug, use blue painters tape to outline where you want the rug to go. Tho different shades of blue and some details in bronze. I like it, but it is not my choice, it stays from previous owner.

If you decide to contrast, you can go with white walls (plus accessories which match or contrast with the fixtures), light walls against dark fixtures, or dark walls against light fixtures. The wall color can be a lighter or darker shade of the fixture color, or one which contrasts with or complements it. Great decorator’s tip about putting an objects like cardboard boxes in the space where you intend to put something more permanently. Thanks, I’m going to try before I get the next piece of furniture for my place!… Read More

Very Small Bathroom Remodel

This is the first in a short series of videos showing how to remodel a bathroom. This video shows how to remove everything from the bathroom (excluding the tub), to get ready for new flooring. Subsequent videos show how to install vinyl tiles with grout and how to install beadboard and a new faucet.

Some wonderful dark bathroom wall colors which work well with white or light fixtures are chocolate, black, deep purple, navy blue, hunter green, burgundy, crimson, and terracotta. Light colored or white accessories and towels will pop and look very sharp against the dark walls, or you can use contrasting or toning dark colors for a more subtle effect.

Follow Fig. B, for the new drain/vent plan. The new shower drain is vented separately into the main stack (Photos 10, 12 and 13). Most bathrooms have the main stack positioned directly behind the toilet. The wall-mounted toilet shown here cannot be positioned directly behind the stack because there’s not room for the necessary elbows. If your stack is more than 12 in. to the side of the existing toilet, you can keep the same location for the wall-hung toilet. But if it’s directly behind it, you’ll need to swap the sink and toilet locations like we did.

First, I can’t believe how amazingly beautiful you managed to make that space look spending only $7,000. If I was given that same space and budget, I’m not sure I could deliver a COMPLETE and functioning bathroom at all, let alone one that looks like I (easily) spent $25,000 (which, btw, is the minimum amount that anyone who knows what good stuff costs would guess your bath to have cost). So, my hat’s off to you for pulling this off!

Showerheads, toilets, and faucets have all become more water-efficient in recent years, thanks to the Environmental Protection Agency’s voluntary WaterSense program, which labels products that are 20 percent more efficient than federal standards. Our tests have found many WaterSense winners, including low-flow showerheads that deliver a satisfying pulse while meeting the flow rate of 2.5 gallons per minute. You can even have a rain showerhead these days that’s low-flow,” says Petrie.… Read More
