We gutted the entire space except for the tub which was in perfect condition and replaced the boring, square beige tiles with large format tiles of a subtle, threaded pattern. A decorative, highly textured band of stainless steel, stone, and glass runs through the shower and defines the counter of the new dark vanity which is now in scale with the room. New sconces in matte opal glass are twined with ribbons of forged iron. Walls are in a chic hue called Thunder Grey.
Make sure that you make a realistic budget before you start making any improvements to your home and you do your best to stick to the budget. While there are many factors that can make things cost a bit more than expected, you should not be spending thousands of dollars more than you can afford. Whether you choose the halogen light to be from the ceiling, under the cabinet or even at the floor, the halogen light will make a major statement in your kitchen. What a great update!
A very thorough and comprehensive guide for redecorating on a budget. I like these ideas. I am definitely going to use the changing cabinet knobs and drawer pulls tip. Thanks! Change the showerhead. You can buy a rain showerhead, massage showerhead and other models that will give your bathroom a spa look and feel as well as improve your shower experience. Most of the time, you can make the change in five minutes with a wrench. What a fantastic idea! I don’t know how I missed the information in my first reading! Thanks so much!
Personally, I wouldn’t want to be taking down walls and opening up kitchens and bathrooms without a professional. There are such things as load bearing walls, and the removal of them can create structural issues that might see your house on the condemned list. Indeed it is, but we have no choice. Okay, we do, but dueling the spiders in the basement bathroom (door also shut there) is too much for me. All of the above that YOU did scares me except for the buying beautiful towels part and the sign making. Yep. You’re my NEW HERO!!!!
The vanity was pretty awful and just too bulky for the small size of our bathroom. The bathroom isn’t really too small but this big cabinet made it feel small. And the door was forever falling off and being re-attached and falling off again. It drove me all sorts of crazy. Wonderful lens. I wish I had that creativity I see on TV all the time. Some designer gets 1000 dollars and makes the entire house look fabulous. Thanks for the tips to use until then!
